DIABETES RANKS AMONG THE LEADING CAUSES OF DEATH IN THE COUNTY. THE PREVALENCE OF DIABETES AND OBESITY ARE BOTH ON THE RISE IN THE COUNTY. STATISTICS FOR ADULT DIABETES PREVALENCE AND YOUTH FRUIT/VEGETABLE CONSUMPTION ARE SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE THAN STATE AVERAGES. THE HOSPITAL'S AND SETON COASTSIDE'S PAYOR MIX FOR FY 2018 CONSISTED OF A LARGE PROPORTION OF MEDICARE PATIENTS THAT ACCOUNTED FOR NEARLY 47% OF ALL INPATIENT HOSPITAL DISCHARGES WITH MEDICARE TRADITIONAL AT 38% AND MEDICARE MANAGED CARE AT 9%.
