In 2016, through funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Research Triangle Institute created Community Benefit Insight, a tool which consolidates community benefit spending data that non-profit hospitals report on the IRS Form 990 Schedule H. We believe that bringing transparency to this data is an important tool for improving the amount, scope, and effectiveness of community benefit spending, which has significant downstream effects on community health across the US.

Community Benefit Insight is in danger of ceasing operations as funding to sustain the site will end on January 14, 2025. We are currently looking for support in maintaining this website to continue to improve transparency and support health equity. Without additional funding, the site will remain online and operational for at least one year, but content and dataset updates will cease, as will technical support and data sales.

If you would like to learn more about the status of the site or partnering with RTI, please reach out to our team at supportcommunitybenefitinsight@rti.org. Please note that our team is no longer responding to technical support requests at this time.

The RTI team would like to thank the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for their guidance and support for this resource. Without their generosity and vision, the Community Benefit Insight website would not exist.
